1920s | Great Gatsby Inspired

(Pictures above were all found from Pinterest)

Being a lover of the Great Gatsby I wanted to recreate an inspired glammed up look from the 1920s. I think beauty around that time was very beautiful, they wore mostly dark reddish or nude lips with either a wing or grey toned eye shadow. The eyebrows were a lot more lighter and the base makeup was more like natural skin. The products I used were:
  • Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation
  • Mac Prolongwear Concealer
  • Rimmel Stay Matte Powder
  • Body Shop honey bronzer
  • Naked 2 palette (Pistol, Verve and booty call)
  • Body Shop liquid eyeliner
  • Loreal Paris False Lash Architect mascara
  • Kate Moss 107 lipstick
I didn't wear anything on my lips for the first option I only wore my lip balm which was the baby lips clear one. For the hair all I did was curl it, then using a hair band I did a really loose ponytail and then used two butterfly clips and hid the pony and just pulled on my hair a little to make it give a bob affect. In the 1920s short hair was the thing, kind of like the trend at the moment.
I really enjoyed doing this post. I have been meaning to do it now for a long time as well as others from different eras which I have planned for so they are on my to do list.

A Hidden Gem

I love Mascara and I especially love trying out new ones so after receiving this from my mum's friend (don't worry she never used it because of the colour) I had to report back because this is AMAZING! Ok so this mascara is from Maybelline and it's called Lash Stiletto voluptuous. Unfortunately Maybelline don't sell this mascara in the UK but you can buy it from amazon. The reasons why this is my new favourite mascara are:
1. The colour. As you maybe able to tell in the photo this mascara is brown. I hadn't tried any brown mascara before until this one and I must say I think I prefer brown over black on me now but only for natural everyday wear. I just love how my lashes match my hair and eyebrows.
2.Defiantley adds volume and is lengthening. My lashes look so much longer and has more volume when I wear this mascara and it holds it like this for the whole day!
3. No clumps. It separates my lashes so they don't clump together which is what everyone looks for in a mascara right?
4. Easy to work with. Is it just me or do you find applying mascara on your bottom lashes hard because of the shape of your wand? Well I do and this mascara is so easy to apply mascara to both tops and bottom lashes.

I'm very surprised that no one has really come across this product before but if you are thinking of purchasing this now then do it right now - you will have no regrets.

Patience Is Key

After 3 Long hours slaving in the kitchen I actually came out with an unexpected result. If you know me well then you know that the kitchen is unfortunately not my forte. So I wanted to prove people wrong and make a Victoria sponge cake after people e.g Hayley and Caitlin doubting me. So look I did it and all I did was follow Davina's Sugar Free recipe. I think we can all now agree that I am the new 'Mary Berry'... Ok maybe I'm getting a little cocky. But I'm sure she would of loved my cake. Oh and because I just have the natural talent of cooking I made my own compote from the same book but changed the blueberries to strawberries. Here's a link to Davina's Sugar Free Book if you are interested in purchasing it.

My inspirations

Hi, so I was just watching 'The Voice' which is basically a singing competition (if you don't know what it is), and whenever I watch the voice I am always admiring Rita Ora. Rita's style is inspiring and her personality is so genuine and just lovely. Anyway, getting back to her style, she has quite a distinct style in that she is versatile. One day she can look tom-boy ish and the next she can look elegant and classy! That is what I love! She wears unique, creative and beautiful pieces. Especially, if you watch the voice then you know what I am talking about, but she wore this 2 piece outfit that was black, sheer and her hair was in a Mohican;structured in buns which I just loved. That probably sounds gibberish but I cannot find a great photo of the outfit sorryyyy.
Then it got me thinking, why don't i do a post about 'my inspirations' by listing them and briefly saying why?
-Rita Ora: I have mentioned above
-In the frow (AKA-Victoria): Due to her passion for fashion (yes i just noticed its the slogan for the Bratz dolls....huge fan right here!)
-Megan Ellaby- Her unique, confident style with an element of Alexa Chung. Her lifestyle sounds awesome and she works for Asos!
-Gigi Hadid- I have recently been loving Gigi! Her style and success is just inspiring!
-Kendall Jenner- If you have read any of my other posts then you know I am obsessed with Kendall! So I guess no need to explain....
-Kylie Jenner too!
-Retro Flame also known as Erika Fox- the fact that she is an Irish girl living in New York is amazing! I love her style and her adventures in NYC....it gets me inspired to travel!
Christian Louboutin- SHOES! I love! No need to carry on apart from LOVE!
Ok so these amazing people are only a handle of who I can think of as my inspirations. You never know I might do some sort of part 2 in the near future if I have new inspirations?! Anyway , I hope you liked this post! Bye!

Why? | Friday February Fitness

Today's the last post of our mini series of February fitness.. :( It has been a fun one and we hope to whoever has read them the we hope you have enjoyed reading them! For the last post we thought we would share with you benefits and why having a healthy, active lifestyle is a good thing.
We will list and explain the benefits, some benefits will be what has come to us personally (what we have noticed dramatically) and other benefits will be a bit more scientific...oooo!
1.Positive outlook on life- You become less lazy and more active to achieve your goals due to the mood boosting foods we consume, less sugar more fibre!
2.We have become more awake and mentally ready for the days!
3.We have also noticed we are a lot less snappy with each other
4.We are more happy with ourselves because of the endorphins that are released when exercising
5. It is helping improve our fitness level ready for our GCSE PE practical exam (the main reason why we did it)
6. For kirsty: helping me prepare for the half marathon
7. Our insides are probably loving us right now due to the nutrition they are receiving everyday :)

We have not done any workout idea posts because we find that it is down to personal preference, everyone enjoys different things so we found if we did any workout posts it would not be as helpful. But if you were after workout ideas always go on YouTube and type in what you want to work on!
Overall, having an active, healthy lifestyle has just changed our lives for the better-yes that sounds cringe but it is true. We are physically and mentally prepared for each day that we face especially during a stressful Year 11!

London Fashion Week

Favourite show: David Koma

I (Kirsty) absolutely LOVED David Koma's show and I think many people would agree with me. All of these pieces I could see myself wearing especially my favourites above! I'm a huge fan of simple
monochrome clothes. Some of the pop of colours in the pieces I also really like because it adds fun to the outfit's, yet not being uncomfortable and daring to wear.

Favourite Presentation: Selfridges Women's wear

I (Hayley) loved the creativity involved in this presentation with the flower woman, the animal skull, the witch and the scarecrow vibes. The presentation was fresh, unique and could be interpreted in many different ways for the upcoming autumn winter. My favourite piece was the animal skull because it looks wearable and elegant (obviously without the headpiece).

Favourite Makeup: Eudon Choi

(Kirsty) I absolutely fell in love with this makeup look. Its so creative yet so simple. I love how the look is focused on the 'camouflage' eyes and the rest of the makeup is very natural and healthy looking.

Best Dressed: Kendall Jenner (surprise)

(Hayley) This look is very sophisticated and elegant. Kendall looks stunning in this very wearable outfit, the baby blue high waisted cigarette trousers gives of spring/summer vibes. Simple, subtle, chic... Beautiful.
