This book was my holiday book, specifically for the long haul flight as I knew I would not have enough time to read it whilst on my travels. Anyway, I have finally finished Eleanor & Park written by Rainbow Rowell I say I have finally finished because the plan to read it on the plane did not happen as I had a lot of films to watch....
To be honest I am not really sure how I feel about this book. I am going to tell you my feelings throughout the book:
Number One- Confused; the language at the beginning was quite confusing that I didn't understand what Eleanor and park were talking about.... their interests and hobbies are different to mine so that is why I was confused with some of their vocabulary.
Number two- In Awe; I was warming to the characters and their 'love' story. I say 'love' in quotations because it is not the stereotypical love story that is cushioned with ponies and unicorns. This one is what I am guessing to be the realistic love as in the real love story.
Number three- Surprised; I was a bit shocked with how Park feels towards Eleanor... he has a love for her but he also feels embarrassed with the truth that he actually loves her. He made me feel a bit angry because his thoughts about Eleanor on some occasions are just annoying. (I don't want to give away the book)
Number four- Park's mum; I felt like Parks mum... she basically wants to give Eleanor a makeover and by what I read I just wanted to give Eleanor a new wardrobe (not in a horrible way)
Number five- Mixed emotions.... the ending is sweet but also a little disappointing I guess I am a bit disappointed because the ending isn't an end (kind of like a cliff hanger) but the ending is also cute because its your imagination that ends the ending (if that makes any sense). I guess it is your imagination that determines Eleanor and parks ending/future.
Rainbow Rowell has done a good book it is nice that it is different to stereotypical love stories but I guess I am just a sucker for a happily ever after? Anyway, I would rate this book a 7/10 however, this is just my opinion and everyone thinks differently.
